The two seasons
Dry season (November to March)
The most comfortable time to visit, with sunshine and lower rainfall. Late December and January can bring the cooler, hazy harmattan.
Rainy season (April to October)
Warm and humid with heavy showers, heaviest around June and July. Rain is usually short but can cause traffic and flooding.

Best time to come
November to February is ideal: dry weather and a lively festive season often called Detty December.
What to pack
Light, breathable clothing year round, plus a small umbrella or rain jacket in the wet months and sunscreen for the beach.
Tip: whenever you visit, build extra time into Island trips for traffic and rain.
